An update has been due on this site for a while now. And I do have some content coming up that may give this site a needed jump start. But in the meantime here’s some highlights:

  • I got an iPhone 3Gs. Still getting used to the device but it’s definitely been a boost for my connectivity and responsiveness. Let’s see if it will help my blogging too.
  • Relaunched My Conclusion with a new thrust and archiving old material. Worth taking a look. Should get interesting. And My Conclusion is also twittering in case you didn’t see.
  • Getting down to the wire on a big project but just waiting for a new logo and some imports and testing to be complete.
  • Gave OpenID a serious spin in the last few weeks trying to plug it into activeCollab. About 75% progress but still have a few issues to hammer out.
  • Going on vacation starting tomorrow for 3 weeks so maybe I’ll have more time to devote to my social life. We’ll see.

Probably a moot question but did you JB your 3GS?

yep was pretty easy and quick. Updating it to 3.0.1 was actually more annoying than jailbreaking.

Hmmm 3.0.1 was just a standard update and worked fine for me. I love SBsettings, Veency and of course without the guys at hackulo none of my cracked apps would work :) I never understand why people do not want to JB their device. Out of curiosity what method did you use?

Well I had to revert to 3.0 because you can’t jailbreak 3.0.1 AFAIK at least according to @geohot. I used redsn0w.

“You can re-use redsn0w v0.8 we released a few weeks ago to jailbreak today’s 3.0.1 update. Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock.”
blog.iphone-dev.org these are the guys that made redsn0w, quickpwn, pwnagetool, yell0wsnow and ultrasn0w.
Geohot is a one man team while these guys have quite a few people on their team.
