Guru is not a “Band” in the sense that we ever intend to play together or even make another record- maybe, if we get “inspired” once again. Guru is a short side project for experiementing with some more acid sounding rock. We TOTALLY recognize that this genre isn’t the most popular these days. We in Guru don’t like some of what we did ourselves. But we hope the more “Anti-regular-music” types might appreciate it. High5.
Part’s of Distortion Religion are influenced by the early 90’s Seattle type “discordant” sound, with a bit of other modern ideas thrown around. We wanted something different from the standard predictable popular music. “back to the basics” “no studio tricks and overdubs” and “very easy to play (mostly)” with a modern big loud sound….and a lot of raw aggression. This is what came out of the studio. Sorry (or…maybe it’s a really good thing) that It’s a mini-album. The good news is, we stopped at this because we wanted to get down to business with other real projects in our free time.
Guru is not STEM. It’s a short side project done in our spare time through the Christmas season push with some of the same people, but “formed” for the sake of trying something that wouldn’t really the “STEM” thing. STEM will be releasing a third album later this year, so stay tuned.

Guru brought a welcome new sound to family music….a kind of nice retro feel from the 90′s. I really enjoyed it….hope they get together again sometime!
