So one of my clients has a remote asterisk user who lives in another country. He has been using 3CX Phone as his SIP client with Asterisk for a while. But the software was extremely intermittent when it came to receiving calls. It has a nice “iPhone like” interface which made it easier for the user.
Today I switched them out to Qutecom and all outstanding issues are gone.
If you want to remove an extension from the directory with FreePBX, simply edit the file: /var/www/html/admin/modules/core/agi-bin/directory
On line 479, replace:
if (!empty($box["name"])) {
with:
if (!empty($box["name"]) && (substr($box["name"],1)!="(") && (substr($box["name"],-1) != ")")) {
Now you can simply set the Display Name of the extension you want removed from the directory to be enclosed in parentheses such as “(John Doe)”.
