Children and the WWW

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings, Family

Okay a post to end the techie madness. It’s not like I stare at code for that long but it does take up a good part of my day, after all that’s what I do.

However life is not made up of 1s and 0s, and so I look at the best part of my life: my family. I got to thinking today about the amount of information that individuals (including myself) make readily available on the web. Everything from pictures of our family to details of the romantic dinner that we had with our significant other. It’s a darn lot of information and when you come to think about it, that information is made available to the world.

In a perfect world this wouldn’t be a bad thing, however we live in an age where there are folks who would use such information for wrong things.

With the above in mind, my wife and I have decided we will no longer put up pictures of our family for public viewing. This is nothing against our readers but rather a personal decision with regards to our family. — I will however be making a special section of the website for friends and family that will contain pictures as I do believe it’s important to stay in contact with those close to you.

Additionally I’m not trying to set a precedent for others with a blog. It’s something I hope folks are aware of though and do with full confidence and assurance.

However for me, I feel that family is too precious to be careless about and thus I make this decision.

Heavy Metal

Author: Dan - Categories: Family

My daugther is convinced that Heavy Metal song by STEM is sung by Larry the Cucumber. — Our dialog at breakfast went like this:

“Daddy, is that song really a silly song with Larry?”

“No that’s STEM, he’s just doing that for fun.”

“Oooh! But he really sounds like Larry.”

Prayer Request and scattered thoughts

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings, Family, Technical
  • Rina has been sick the last few days, we’ve been keeping her resting but her little mind and body still want to race at 100 mph. Please keep her in your prayers as well as Gin who’s under the weather as well. Also pray that baby stays healthy through all of this. Thanks.
  • I think my first podcast really was crummy but I just had to get it out of my system. I’m conducting a couple audio based interviews and the next few podcasts should feature some special guests so stay tuned. I’ll also try my best to make them more interesting and to use “highlight” a little less.
  • The Colts game was awesome and fun to watch.
  • The one thing that can kill a well coded site is a badly designed database.

Thanks and Appreciation

Author: Dan - Categories: Family, Rants

Well we are back “home” and it’s been a fun and exciting 16 days for us. We wanted to just post a little something to say thank you to each one who made our stay in their homes enjoyable and memorable. We especially want to thank those who lent us their rooms while we were visiting, it made the holiday season and the first few days with our son relaxing, stress free and special. And a special thanks to my Dad who let my Mom fly here to help us over the holiday season, and my Mom who we were happy to see and was such a help throughout. We love you!

A belated Happy New Year to all — may each of you have a wonderful New Year full of love and happiness.
