Back in the Saddle

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings, Rants

So we are back and getting back into work and life on the exact opposite side of the world, California. It’s good to be back, see old friends. India was a great experience. A lot of folks have asked me how India was. I think in a nutshell it was a good experience and reminder. For me and my family maybe it didn’t fit the bill, but my hat is off to those who are there doing a great job and living the life of a missionary. It’s definitely a unique field and one with a lot of potential. — If you want to support a missionary there’s some great folks in India worth supporting as they have a lot to do and not a lot of resources to do it with.

Anyway I hope to pay this blog a bit more attention and maybe tweak it a little. I also want to explore a new wiki/book idea I’ve been discussing with my Dad that would focus on virtues. He has an awesome class on virtues and how when America was founded, it was founded on virtues. It’s sad to see how far off our country has gone from it’s original founding fathers vision.

Filming, Design and Wrapping Up

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings

Just got back from a trip to Bangalore where I got to meet Sarah and Vincent from Live the Creed. We did 2 days of web work and 2 days of filming a skit. Was fun and getting back into the groove of production work was great. We setup a green screen in their living room for some of the skit and I got to witness the creativity of Mark, Tim J and co.

Today is our last week before departing, please keep our travel and everything in your prayers. Thanks.

Merry Christmas

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings

Last night got home from our last caroling engagement and caught up on some sleep today. We’ll try and take some Christmas pics soon now that we have some time on our hands.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy, safe and wonderful New Year.

Born a King

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings

Lowly in a manger he lay
No headlines proclaiming the day,
Known only by
Those who have seen the signs
Which heralded across the sky
Tonight is born a king

Leaving behind his stately palace,
Becoming one of lowly status,
Though lowly, he shook the world
Wise men fell to their knees

This my Lord and Saviour
Lying in the cradle below
This child of promise
Fulfilling all prophecies
All Heaven proclaims boldly
This child is born a King

This child foretold by prophets
His birthplace was known
With no royal proclamation
Animals kept his company
Here lies the Messiah
He came here just for me

This Christmas night he bids me
To do one thing for him
Help another soul that’s searching
Find His peace within
And proclaim to all that listen
Christ is born, a King

First Night of Caroling

Author: Dan - Categories: Babblings

So we did our first performance (three 1/2 hour sets) at a five-star hotel. It’s amazing how many carols you can fit into a meger half an hour, singing all the verses (even repeating a few):

  • Angels We Have Heard On High / Hark the Herald
  • Feliz Navidad
  • Jingle Bells
  • Silent Night
  • White Christmas
  • Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
  • O Come All Ye Faithful
  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
  • We Wish You A Merry Christmas
  • Mary’s Boy Child

It came off okay, outside of my fingers cramping up half way through O Come All Ye Faithful and breaking my G string. Well another 8 days and 30 sets to go. Merry Christmas!
