For any Ubuntu/Kubuntu, and other derivatives, users out there who get tired of typing “sudo” before every root command, here’s an easy alternative:
sudo bash
Once you put in your password you’ll have a root level bash. Enjoy!
How long does this session last, and how do you quit it?
It lasts until you log out by typing “exit”.
but why wouldn’t you wanna type su before every command you type in the terminal. I mean have you ever nanoed a long conf file only to find out you don’t have write permissions when you try to save?
No I’ve never nanoed a long conf file, I’ve vi’d it though.
