I’ve given blogging a lot of thought recently, I wouldn’t say I’m your most avid blogger but I’ve been at it long before the big blog boom started. Granted I deleted all those old posts but in the end I think that was a wise move as you’ll see as I continue in this series of posts about blogging and the blogger.

Blog popularity has gone through the ceiling as of last year and has been steadily climbing since 2004. Most experts believe that it will roll off this year and by 2008 we will know which blogs are here to stay. Did you know that almost 2/3 of blogs that have been started have since been left to sit in the great expanse of the world wide web? Of those 2/3rds that were .coms that means a lot more junky link sites to boot.

I’m getting away from the topic at hand however. In thinking about blogs I’ve realized that a lot folks I know got into the blogging world within the last 2 years. Some of the reasons given are:

  • Wanting to keep in touch with family and friends.
  • Throw up an opinion or 2 from time to time.
  • Document their travels.
  • Meet new friends over the web.
  • No real reason just wanted to jump on the bandwagon.

Now don’t get me wrong none of these reasons are bad or incorrect. However with this series of posts I hope to delve a little deeper into the world of blogging. I’ll show you some of my thought processes as well as field questions I feel bloggers should be asking themselves. Each post will be open to comments so feel free to correct, add, object or discuss anything I put up.

Hopefully the series will culminate with the post 10. And yes I affectionately call it the BS.
